State Security arrests two Syrian on spying charges

State Security  announced the arrest of two Syrian nationals in south Lebanon on charges of spying on the Lebanese Army, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Syrian M.Aa. and H.S. were arrested by State Security in Nabatieh, and are suspected of spying on several Army locations and personnel.

During the investigation, the suspect’s phones were thoroughly inspected. State Security officers found footage of the roads leading to the Defense Ministry, as well as photos of the Army Intelligence headquarters in Mount Lebanon, the Military Academy in Baabda and several higher-ranking officers’ houses in Hazmieh.

The suspects were referred to the military court to stand trial.
