ISF busts terror cell sending fighters to Syria
Security forces busted a Daesh (ISIS) cell in north Lebanon that allegedly facilitated the movement of militants from Lebanon into Syria. The Internal Security Forces released a statement announcing that the members of the cell had been residing in the northern border town of Wadi Khaled and acted in coordination with the terror group’s headquarters in Syria’s Raqqa.
The two suspects were identified as 22-year-old Aa.Aa. and 32-year-old Aa.H. The former confessed that he had communicated with a Daesh member last month in Syria, before traveling to Idlib and Hama. Reportedly, while heading to Raqqa, the intensity of the battles and the lack of a safe road drove Aa.Aa. to return to Lebanon. Aa.H. admitted that he had previously fought in Al-Hosn Al-Gharbi, located slightly north of the Lebanese border, and that he had helped Aa.Aa. and others communicate with his sister’s son M.H., who is wanted by authorities and is reportedly fighting in Raqqa. M.H. put these contacts in touch with a Daesh leader in Raqqa, who in turn organized their travel to Syria. Aa.H. also confessed that he and Aa.Aa. had dealt with a human trafficker in Wadi Khaled who helped them reach Idlib.
