Beirut police arrested two Syrians on charges of theft, an Internal Security Forces statement said.
A patrol from al-Nahr police station on the eastern side of Beirut apprehended two suspects identified as Aa.Aa., 21, and A.H., 28, for allegedly using force to rob passersby near the bustling Mar Mikhael street in Beirut, a famous destination for clubbers in the city.
Two knives and a number of stolen SIM cards were confiscated from the suspects.
In one of the thefts they admitted to, the suspects said they robbed two Syrians in the nearby Karantina neighborhood, the statement said.
The two men were referred to the judiciary for further interrogation.
