About 100 people demonstrated in front of the Beirut municipality against any extension of Parliament’s term, calling on politicians to agree on a law to govern parliamentary elections.
Sunday’s protest comes one day after Beirut Governor Ziad Chebib banned protests on streets leading to churches and mosques during prayer times.
Citing security reasons, lawmakers extended their terms twice, in 2013 and 2014.
Parliamentary elections were scheduled to take place between May 21 and June 21, but political deadlock is expected to delay elections beyond June.
