ضمن إطار مكافحة عمليات سرقة السيارات في مختلف المناطق اللبنانية، ونتيجة للمتابعة والرصد، تمكنت دورية من مكتب مكافحة جرائم السرقات الدولية في وحدة الشرطة القضائية، بتاريخ 5/5/2017، من توقيف أحد الضالعين بهذه السرقات، وذلك في محلة حي السلم/الضاحية الجنوبية، ويدعى: ع. ش. (مواليد عام 1982، لبناني).
بالتحقيق معه، اعترف بما نسب إليه، إضافةً إلى مشاركته في عمليات نقل سيارات مسروقة وتسليمها إلى أحد الأشخاص في بلدة بريتال البقاعية، ليصار الى تهريبها خارج الأراضي اللبنانية، وذلك بالاشتراك مع آخرين، أوقف أحدهم بتاريخٍ سابق من قبل شعبة المعلومات، والعمل مستمر لتوقيف البقية.
