The Lebanese Army maintained concentrated artillery fire on militant positions along the Lebanese-Syrian border, particularly those entrenched along Arsal’s outskirts. “They are establishing a firing line,” a security source told The Daily Star. “The militants will not be allowed to advance past this line. Troops and arms can no longer be transported into Syria because of these strikes.” The Army has launched dozens of artillery and airstrikes in the last week, intensifying Thursday with dozens of barrages. The escalation follows a series of munitions shipments from the U.S. to support the Army’s fight against terrorism.
