BEIRUT: Security forces raided two Beirut shops on the suspicion that they were involved in funding terror groups, a security source told The Daily Star.
The source said that the two shops in Al-Tariq al-Jadideh neighborhood were sealed off with red wax at the orders of the Military Prosecution.
Local channel LBCI reported that a General Security unit conducted the raid that targeted several money transfer companies.
It added that the raids came after around $20 million was transferred to the extremist group Daesh (ISIS) via 16 companies in the area.
MTV Channel reported that three currency exchange shops were closed in Al-Tariq Al-Jadideh, while similar raids were carried out in Beirut’s Hamra and Corniche El Mazraa areas.
