On 08 Nov 16, the Internal Security Forces exchanged fire with an armed suspect after he had resisted arrest in Akkar north of Lebanon. The ISF allegedly responded to fire from Mahmoud Shalish during an attempt to arrest him on Tal Abbas highway in the Akkar plain in north Lebanon. The suspect, against whom several arrest warrants have been issued, was injured in the leg as a result of the shooting before he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
