The director of an UNRWA-run school in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh was badly beaten by a student’s parents, prompting teachers to protest and all schools in the camp to close. The League of UNRWA Employees protested the incident that left Ahmad Abbas injured. Abbas worked at the Safad School in the camp. The Palestinian Liberation Organization denounced the beating, calling for an end to attacks on facilities managed by UNRWA, the state-run National News Agency reported. “Force shouldn’t be used against UNRWA institutions since their aim is to serve the refugees. These facilities are the properties of our people and it’s our duty to protect them,” the PLO said.
