The Internal Security Forces announced the arrest of two Syrian men Monday in a Beirut suburb over charges of counterfeiting money and fraud. The police statement said a Syrian national, 31, was apprehended in the Metn area of Nabaa with more than $3,000 in forged currency. The suspect subsequently told authorities who supplied him with the forged banknotes, prompting police to raid the alleged counterfeiter’s house. The suspected counterfeiter is another Syrian national aged 41. During the raid, police seized two printing presses that print counterfeit bills, an undisclosed amount of forged currency, and a quantity of fake gold.
