On 28 July 16, Electricite du Liban contract workers halted elevators at the company's headquarters in Beirut's Corniche al-Nahr as their colleagues in the Bekaa briefly blocked the vital Dahr al-Baidar road. Their action prevented company employees from entering or leaving the premises, and forced police in the Bekaa to divert traffic to inner roads.
