A man suspected of impersonating security forces members and carrying out armed robberies with other individuals was arrested Wednesday, a police statement said Friday.
The statement said F.Sh., in his early 20s, was arrested in Beirut’s Tayyouneh area after being closely monitored by police who were working on a tip.
It added that he used a dark blue Renault Megane to carry out his robberies in different parts of Beirut, including Ashrafieh, Gemmayzeh, Monot and Verdun. He also robbed locations in the coastal towns of Saadiyat and Damour.
F.Sh. also allegedly confessed to robbing the consulate of an unnamed country along with other people.
