Three people were wounded in an armed clash between two Fatah Movement brigades in the southern Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh, a security source told The Daily Star Friday. The source said that the "Sabra and Shatila" and "Abu Jihad al-Wazir" brigades exchanged fire late Thursday in the Fawqani neighborhood following a dispute between two of their members. The flare-up in tension began after Ali R. refused to rent his motorbike to Ayman Aa., prompting one of them to open fire at the other, leading to limited clashes between the two brigades. Mohammad Sh., Mohammad K. and a third unidentified man were wounded in the clashes. Senior Fatah officials and the elite Joint Palestinian Security Force intervened to restore calm. Those who caused the tension were later detained and referred to an investigation committee. Ain al-Hilweh, Lebanon's largest Palestinian refugee camp, is the site of frequent clashes between rival groups.
