Three children kidnapped in Beirut southern suburbs
Three children with dual Lebanese-Canadian citizenship were abducted from outside their school in a southern suburb of Beirut Monday, police and a security source said.
The source said the children, aged between 4 and 8, were kidnapped from outside Al-Morouj school on the airport road in the area of Bir Hasan by gunmen sent by the children’s mother. He said the father of the children, identified as Mohammad Nassereddine from the northeastern town of Hermel, and his Lebanese-Canadian wife were engaged in a custody dispute. The children typically take a taxi home but instead the mother sent six gunmen to pick them up, the source said, adding that the father has informed the Canadian embassy about the matter. The Internal Security Forces wrote on Twitter that the three were kidnapped by six gunmen traveling in two cars at 2 p.m.
