Khaled Qassem Ajami, who was referred by the Army intelligence to the judiciary Friday, is a prominent leader in the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Abdullah Azzam Brigades, Al-Akhbar newspaper reported Saturday. According to the Lebanese daily, Ajami was ambushed by an army unit at his aunt's house in the southern Beirut suburb of Ouzai. The report stated that the Army obtained information on Ajami’s continuous visits to his aunt’s house, adding that he was under surveillance for several months before his arrest. However, it remains unclear when he was arrested.
