A huge fire broke out in the Jarrahieh camp in Marj, Bekaa on the 1st of June at 11:30 am. Primary information said that it had been caused by electrical wiring in one of the tents. The fire spread to the whole camp which hosted more than 250 families. Field accounts maintain that the local fire department, which is 7 minutes away from the camp, took more than 2:30 hours to react. 5 persons were reportedly deceased due to the fire, including a woman and her children. Investigations showed later on that 2 persons from the camp had been caught trying to ignite the rest of the camp and confessed to local authorities that they were behind Monday's fire.
