On 03 March 2015, Army Command - Guidance Directorate issued a communiqué announcing that a soldier was martyred and the wanted Abdel Rahman Ahmad Tamer was killed during an Army raid in Bhannine village - Akkar. The statement explained that on Tuesday dawn an Army patrol raided the place where the fugitive Abdel Rahman Ahmad Tamer in Bhannine village - Akkar and as he opened the fire at the patrol shooting dead one of the soldiers and an exchange of fire took place leading to the death of the fugitive. It is to note that Tamer belongs to Sheikh Khaled Hablas terrorist group which set an armed ambush to an Army patrol in Dhour al-Mohammara region – Menieh in 26/10/2014, leading to the martyrdom of four servicemen including two officers.
