Army targets gunmen with heavy artillery, five army members wounded
The army stationed in Ras Baalbeck and northern Bekaa is intermittently targeting with heavy artillery the movements and gatherings of gunmen in the direction of al-Najasa and al-Mukhairami hilltops in the eastern mountain range of Arsal terrains, NNA field correspondent reported on Thursday.
The army managed earlier to expel the gunmen from Jeresh Hilltop, forcing them to withdraw to al-Najasa and al-Mukhairami hilltops in Arsal's eastern mountain range.
The army improvised two military posts in Sadr al-Jeresh and Harf Jeresh, northeast Ras Al Hamra Hilltop, in the direction of the Lebanese-Syrian borders, thus becoming in control of the movements of the gunmen in the region's highlands.
The number of wounded military men has risen to five, including an officer, who were taken aboard a military helicopter to Hermel Hospital and Beirut gov-run hospital for treatment.
The army expanded the area of targeting insurgents, which entailed a while ago Wadi Hmayid in Arsal terrain where the gunmen fled to.
