April 30, 1985: A new round of fighting erupted between East and West Beirut, concentrated on the front lines. Warring parties exchanged bombs that hit residential areas on both sides, leading to the closing of schools and roads between the two sides of the capital. By mid-May, at least 40 civilians had been killed, and 160 were wounded.
