Overview of classifications of conflicts mapped over one year
The conflict mapping, part of the Conflict Mapping & Analysis project, by Lebanon Support in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), tracks incidents, mobilisations, as well as conflicts between individuals/groups/communities happening all over the country. Each mapped event is verified, categorised, and classified based on a typology devised by Lebanon Support, which adopts a broad socio-political approach to “conflict”. It goes beyond mere legal and security based characterisations of the term, shedding light on other dynamics underlying a broad spectrum of contention, such as labour struggles, social movements, or local policies. This map visualises all conflicts recorded and mapped by Lebanon Support since it launched this project on the 27th of June 2014 until the 5th of June 2015, giving a broad overview of conflict classification in Lebanon.
