Truck drivers protest Syrian job competition

Owners of small trucks staged a demonstration in Zahle Saturday to protest what they called increased competition from Syrian workers in the transport sector, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The drivers protested at Qubb Elias’ vegetable market, saying that Syrian truck drivers “threatened their livelihoods” and calling on Interior Minister Raya El Hassan to find a solution to the problem.
