Rubble to Mountains are Collecting and reusing the rubbles and debris from Beirut's damaged areas to rehabilitate quarries and rebuild Lebanese mountains

In the aftermath of this devastating tragedy that has rocked the harbor of Beirut on August 4th, 2020, we have officially requested for a governmental decree that allows us to use the construction and demolition (C&D) waste from the devastated areas at Lebanese quarries, in our environmentally friendly project.⁣⁣⁣⁣
Our objective is to alleviate the burden of additional costs that will drain our beloved country and families as they try to rebuild the city – once again.⁣⁣⁣⁣
As large quantities of non-recyclable glass and debris will be collected from Beirut, we would like to salvage this material before it is sent to landfills. Sending that debris and shattered glass to landfills will require from the government to allocate funds to waste management companies, and will most importantly burden our landfills which are already in a dire situation.⁣⁣⁣⁣
By recuperating a fraction of this construction and demolition waste, our initiative will convert that debris into material used to mend our mountains. The C&D waste will help rebuild quarries and rehabilitate our mountains, while also growing plants and trees on these lands at a later stage.⁣⁣⁣⁣
In collaboration with our partners, we will be collecting the debris and using the land allocated to the initiative by Beirut Municipality to sort and store them by type (debris, glass, furniture, electronics).⁣⁣⁣⁣
Our goal is to start with the rehabilitation of one quarry, then continue with others.⁣⁣⁣⁣
Our initiative will help increase the life of the landfills with the tens of thousands of tons of debris and glass to be collected, in addition to alleviating the additional burden on the government from colossal expenses.⁣⁣⁣
