Political parties joined protests in commemoration with the Beirut's blast, scuffles with protestors
Lebanese Forces supporters assaulted a man in the port vicinity on Wednesday, after he criticized them for holding up their party flags during a symbolic march called on by the Lebanese Forces Students to “commemorate the victims and martyrs of the port explosion.”
Supporters of Lebanese Forces brutally beat protesters and stabbed them with knives, as they were taking part in a march organized by the Communist Party for the August 4 commemoration, and after a number of protesters chanted against Samir Geagea, calling him a “Zionist.” Four protesters were treated on location near Gemmayze, but three others were taken to nearby hospitals, including one in serious condition after he was stabbed 3 times, in both lungs and his kidneys, and near his head, in what could be considered a premeditated murder attempt.
The attack happened in front of the Gemmayze police station, where police officers simply watched what was happening without intervening.
