Collective Action

Owners of commercial stores in Zahle staged a protest and blocked the main road of the industrial city to demand an end to the increased insecurity in the area, the state-run National News Agency reported. MPs George Okais and Elie Estephan participated in the protest in addition to the head of Zahle traders, Ziad Saade, and the head of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists, George Daoud. Estephan and Okais demanded that the security forces and the municipality “put an end to the insecurity, stop robberies and install security cameras," as well. 

وطنية - زحلة - نفذ أصحاب المحال التجارية والمؤسسات الصناعية في حي السيدة في المدينة الصناعية - زحلة، اعتصاما عند مستديرة الفجر الصناعي قرب سجن زحلة تخلله قطع طريق عام المدينة الصناعية، شارك فيه النائبان جورج عقيص وايلي اسطفان،  والمسؤول السياسي للجماعة الاسامية في الجنوب الدكتور بسام حمود ورئيس تجار زحلة زياد سعادة، رئيس جمعية الصناعيين جورج داود وفاعليات. وطالب عقيص واسطفان الاجهزة الأمنية والبلدية "وضع حد للتفلت الأمني ووقف عمليات السرقة ووضع كاميرات مراقبة، اضافة الى إقامة حواجز ثابتة ودوريات ليلية ضمن القوانين المرعية الإجراء، تلافيا لمطالب أصحاب المحال فرض الامن الذاتي".
