Members of the Lebanese Association for Parents of Students in Foreign Universities stage a sit-it and roadblock outside Banque du Liban to demand the application of the student dollar law by commercial banks
وطنية - نفذت "الجمعية اللبنانية لأولياء الطلاب في الجامعات الأجنبية"، قبل ظهر اليوم، اعتصاما أمام مصرف لبنان في منطقة الحمرا،" احتجاجا على تمنع المصارف عن تنفيذ قانون الدولار الطلابي رقم 283".
وطنية - أفاد مندوب "الوكالة الوطنية للاعلام" ان أهالي الطلاب اللبنانيين في الجامعات الاجنبية الذين ينفذون اعتصاما امام مصرف لبنان، قطعوا الطريق المؤدي من المصرف باتجاه منطقة الحمرا في ظل انتشار لقوى الامن الداخلي والجيش. وأكد الاهالي انهم باقون في الطريق الى حين صدور تعميم عن حاكم مصرف لبنان لتحويل الاموال الى أبنائهم على أساس سعر صرف الدولار ب1500 ليرة. وكانت حصلت مشادة كلامية بين أحد المارة الذي اعترض على قطع الطريق، الا ان الاهالي رفضوا فتحها وعدم الخروج من الشارع الى حين تحقيق مطلبهم باصدار التعميم. ودعا الاهالي الى تطبيق قانون الدولار الطالبي ليتمكن أبناءهم من متابعة تحصيلهم العلمي بما يتناسب مع رواتبهم التي يتقاضونها بالليرة اللبنانية. كما طالبوا بالافراج عن الهبة المقدمة من ادارة حصر التبغ (الريجي) ليستفيد منها الطلاب في الخارج.
Dozens of protesters from the Lebanese Association for Parents of Students in Foreign Universities gathered on Thursday at Banque du Liban in Hamra to demand the application of the “student dollar law” (Law No. 283), the state-run National News Agency reported. The association’s head Rabih Kanj, in an interview with Al Jadeed, said, “[Commercial] banks have been arguing that they need a circular from BDL [to apply the student dollar law] but the law does not need one.” The protesters said they would attempt to obtain a circular nonetheless because of its potential uses “in court,” referring to attempts at unlocking funds through legal measures against banks. “We’ve all been made victims of these thefts, a great deal of parents need the ‘student dollar’ because the purchasing power of their salaries has been made null,” the association’s head continued, referring to the inability of depositors to access their funds and the devaluation of the lira. “The executive powers are those that can take the steps to apply the law; [the association] is doing what it can, we’ve been protesting for two years,” he added.
