Judicial assistants announced Saturday an open-ended strike, starting Monday, at courthouses across the country to demand the improvement of their working conditions. In a statement, the judicial assistants, who have previously carried out several strikes, criticized "the indifference of the concerned parties to their suffering," as well as the fact that they have no health coverage. They also denounced the collapse of their salaries' value and the destruction of their purchasing power in view of the depreciation of the national currency, adding that they could only afford go to their offices twice a week following the increase in fuel prices. The court officers said they "will no longer go to all courthouses, without exception, from Monday," noting, however, that two officials will be available to receive requests with urgent deadlines. They also showed "solidarity" with the call for a judges strike.
