On World Cancer Day, Barbara Nassar Association organised a sit-in at Sassine Square to demand access to medicines for cancer patients. Cancer medicines are still officially subsidised, which allows importers to obtain dollars to buy them from BDL at a lower rate than the parallel market. However, as the central bank's reserves are rapidly running short, the procedures to import these products are regularly delayed because of BDL’s delays in payments and therefore the medicines are currently difficult to find on the local market.
وطنية - نفذت جمعية "بربارة نصار" لمرضى السرطان وقفة تحت شعار "بدنا دوا السرطان"، في ساحة ساسين - الأشرفية، في اليوم العالمي لمرضى السرطان، شارك فيه مرضى السرطان وأعضاء من الجمعية، وحملوا لافتات تطالب الدولة ب"مساعدتهم وتأمين أدوية لهم".استهلت الوقفة بوصول سيارة لنقل الموتى أطلقت صفارات الإسعاف والخطر وحملت صندوقا خشبيا للموتى حمله أعضاء من الجمعية على أكتافهم وأخذوا يرقصونه في وسط ساحة ساسين، مع إطلاق صفارات سيارات الاسعاف والدق على الطبول.
