The Monday Market defied the Israeli occupation to stay open week after week, but an escalating trash crisis has brought it to its knees, protesters complained Tuesday in front of Nabatieh’s Serail. The crowd represented a broad spectrum of the governorate’s society – including civic leaders, Baath Party and Hezbollah representatives, merchants, leftists and first aid responders – who called on officials to open waste facilities and resume garbage collection. On 22 July 15, in Al Kfour - Nabatieh, residents staged a Sit-in blocking the road leading to the town's landfill and forbidding dump trucks from emptying their loads. Citizens declared that their sit-in is open until the landfill is closed completely adding that it has become a source of diseases and insects of various kinds. All the land surrounding the landfill has become barren and the poison accumulating affects all neighboring areas.

On 11 June 15, a small explosive sound was heard in Nabatiyeh. Explosive expert attended the scene and found a fuse with explosive materials at the corner of the shop’s entrance, which led to the conclusion of an attempt to break in the shop by detonating the lock.

April 18, 1996: An Israeli warplane destroyed a two-story house in upper Nabatieh, killing nine civilians, including a mother and her seven children. It was reported that there was no evidence that any Hezbollah fighters were in the house or the two neighboring ones that also were hit.

July 8, 1995: Three children were killed and four others were wounded in Nabatieh as a result of Israeli tank-fired flechette shells.

September 19, 1994: In Nabatieh al-Fawqa, South Lebanon, four civilians were killed and four wounded by Israeli flechette-filled shells.

The Israeli Air Force began at 12.15 on Sunday effectuating intensive mock raids over south Lebanon. The mock raids targeted the regions of Nabatiyeh, Iklim Toufah, Khiam, Marj Ayoun, and Arkoub.

An Israeli reconnaissance plane violated the Lebanese airspace above the town of Alma el-Shaeb at 9:25 p.m. on Tuesday, circled over the areas of Nabatiyeh, Jezzine, Marj'Ayoun and Hasbaya, and then left at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday from above the aforementioned town of Alma el-Shaeb, a Lebanese Army communiqué indicated Wednesday.

Two other Israeli warplanes also breached the national airspace over the town of Alma el-Shaeb at 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, circled over various Lebanese regions, and then left at 12:30 p.m. from above the town of Rmeish in the South," the Army communiqué added.

Meanwhile, the Israel military sustained its deadly air raids, leading to a full-fledged military operation. Between November 9 and 11, 1977, in response to rockets launched from South Lebanon, the Israeli Army carried out an air and sea attack of the Lebanese coast, in particular Sour, and destroyed the village of Azziyeh. It also heavily bombed the town of Nabatieh and the villages of Yarin and Khiyam. More than 100 civilians were killed.
