Palestinian activist held by General Security
Palestinian Human Rights Organization director Ghassan Abdullah was detained by General Security Monday May 14, 2018 and has since been transferred to Lebanese Army Intelligence. The reasons for Abdallah’s detention have not been made clear, and he has had no access to a lawyer, Bassam Khawaja, Lebanon researcher at Human Rights Watch, said. According to the PHRO statement, Abdallah was detained at 9 a.m. Monday after responding to a summons from General Security. It is unclear whether the detention was related to protests by Palestinians in Lebanon Tuesday, or to other protests held in Gaza.
