More than a hundred teachers from the Grand Lycée Franco-Libanais de Beyrouth, the Lycée Franco-Libanais de Verdun and the Lycée Franco-Libanais de Nahr Ibrahim protested on Monday in front of the French Secular Mission (MLF) and Regional Directorate of the Real Estate and Digital Financial Administration (DRAFIN) in Beirut, to demand an increase in their salaries. The teachers said that their salaries, which are paid by the Mission, remain pegged at the official rate of LL1,500 to the US dollar.

Dozens of Ukrainian citizens in Lebanon demonstrated in Jbeil on Saturday against the invasion of their country by Russia. The protest took place in what is known as Ukraine Square outside the Jbeil souks after a church service in the nearby St. Rita Church. During the service, parishioners prayed in support of Ukraine and for the end of Russian hostilities there. They then gathered in the Ukraine Public Garden in the city at 1 p.m. to demonstrate against the ongoing Russian war on Ukraine.

Dozens of Ukrainian citizens gathered outside the Russian Embassy in Beirut yesterday to protest Russia's large-scale invasion of their country earlier that morning, the biggest attack by one European country on another since World War II. The Ukrainian national anthem played through loudspeakers as the demonstrators, some of whom were joined by their Lebanese spouses, carried signs denouncing the invasion and chanted “Russia go home.”
