 Riot police clashed with protesters in central Beirut for a second day Sunday, as public rage mounted over a massive port explosion that devastated the city, killed 159 people and injured 6,000.

Riot police carrying batons clashed with demonstrators as thousands surrounded the area around Parliament and Martyrs' Square in Downtown Beirut.

Crowd numbers were significantly lower than the previous day’s “Judgment Day” protests which saw thousands of protesters gathered in Martyrs’ Square. More than 728 were injured and one policeman died in Saturday's protests.

ووجه الناشطون كلمة لفوج الاطفاء جاء فيها: "جئنا لتعزيتكم بشهدائكم ونقف الى جانبكم كما وقفتم الى جانبنا أمس، عندما طلب منكم ان ترشوا المتظاهرين بالماء وانتم رفضتم ذلك، في الوقت الذي قامت فيه قوى اخرى بإطلاق الرصاص الحي على المتظاهرين".

Dozens of protesters stormed into the Foreign, Energy, Economy, and Environment Ministry buildings in Beirut Saturday, calling for an end to corruption and the resignation of the political class following a huge blast that devastated the capital.

“No MP or minister should remain in their seats,” one man told an Al-Jadeed reporter at the Foreign Ministry.

Protesters also ransacked the Economy Ministry and Environment Ministry. Televised footage showed protesters setting small fires in the Azarieh building, where the two ministries are located.

وطنية - أضاء "ملتقى الجمعيات الأهلية" في مدينة صور ومنطقتها، الشموع، "تحية لأرواح الشهداء الذين سقطوا في انفجار مرفأ بيروت وإجلالا لهم، وتضامنا مع الجرحى والمفقودين"، أمام نصب الشهداء في المدينة، في حضور ممثلين للمجتمع المدني وشخصيات لبنانية وفلسطينية.

بعد كلمة لعريف الوقفة عماد سعيد، مذكرا ب"تاريخ بيروت ومقاومتها العدوان الصهيوني ودحره عنها". طالب أحمد يونس باسم الملتقى ب "كشف كامل حقيقة ما جرى من خلال تحقيق شفاف وكشف كل المتورطين والمسؤولين ومحاسبتهم".
