Beit Yahoun residents roadblock over water cutoff

Dozens of Beit Yahoun residents gathered in the southern Lebanon village Tuesday morning to protest what they said was a year-long municipal water cutoff. Residents of Beit Yahoun, in Nabatieh governorate, used cars and vans to block a street in the village on Tuesday morning in protest of the government not delivering them water for one year. Lacking government water, protesters told L’Orient Today by phone that they had resorted to private water providers, which they said charge between LL300,000 to LL700,000 per tank, depending on the distance the water trucks must travel to reach them. According to social media, protesters said on Tuesday that they would “escalate” if no solution was found for the government water cutoff, without clarifying further.
