Health workers at the Saint Georges Hospital in Ajaltoun start an open-ended strike to demand increase in wages, transportation allowances and payment of unpaid salaries
وطنية - اعلن موظفو مستشفى السان جورج في عجلتون أنه "منذ سنوات والمستشفى يعاني من مشاكل مادية وفقدان في المستلزمات والمعدات الطبية وبالرغم من ذلك ظل موظفو المستشفى يؤدون واجبهم الأخلاقي والإنساني بكل تفاني وإخلاص". وقالوا في بيان : "بعد تردي الأوضاع الإقتصادية في لبنان وأزمة غلاء المحروقات، بات من المستحيل على الموظفين الذين يتقادون رواتبهم على سعر صرف 1500 أن يستمروا بمزاولة عملهم". ولفتوا إلى أنه "طلب منا أن ننتظر حتى الأول من نيسان حيث ستأتي إدارة جديدة و ستتحسن الأوضاع، لكن ذلك لم يحصل"، معلنين "إنطلاق إضراب مفتوح وتوقف عن العمل إلى حين تحسين أوضاعنا التي لا نعني فيها قبض الرواتب المكسورة فحسب، بل زودة على الرواتب وعلى بدل النقل تتيح لنا العيش الكريم". وختم البيان: "نعتذر من مرضانا الذين اعتادوا على تفانينا بخدمتهم ولكننا مجبرين على اتخاذ هذه التدابير حفاظًا على عائلاتنا وعلى هذا الصرح الإستشفائي الوحيد في منطقة أعالي كسروان".
Employees of the Saint Georges Hospital in the Ajaltoun area of Keserwan announced Monday an “open strike and stopping of our work,” due to the “deteriorating living conditions and expensive fuel crisis. [...] It has become impossible for the employees who earn their salaries on the LL1500 rate [against the US dollar] from proceeding with their work,” the employees said in a statement. The employees also said that they were promised that a new board of directors would be instated in April to improve the situation, but that this did not happen. Accordingly, they announced “an open strike and stopping of our work until our situation is improved, which does not mean only getting paid the salaries we did not receive, but also a raise on our salaries and transportation allowances, which should allow a decent living.”
