Description:
In April 2015 and on the 40th anniversary of the Lebanese Civil Wars, Issam Fares Institute at the American University of Beirut (AUB) organized the symposium “A Quarter Century after the End of the Civil War, Did We Turn the Page?”. It hosted representatives of research centres and NGOs including the Committee of the Families of the Kidnapped and Disappeared in Lebanon. The dialogue highlighted major challenges to dealing with the legacy of civil violence in Lebanon including the issue of the missing, memory and history education. The event was organized in collaboration with Asfari Institute at AUB, the International Centre for Transitional Justice and the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Media Studies at the AUB.
