Oral History Project
In collaboration with the International Centre for Transitional Justice (ICTJ), UMAM Documentation and Research, Center for the Study of the Modern Arab World (CEMAM) (Université Saint Joseph) and Al-Jana, Act for the Disappeared organised a project in 2012, adopting the same methodology used by ICTJ in its earlier Oral History Project to raise awareness on the civil war. In this project, the focus was on raising the awareness of students on the issue of enforced disappearance in Lebanon. It targeted Palestinian and Lebanese students from the American University of Beirut, Université Saint Joseph, Manar University, Notre Dame University, Beirut Arab University and University of Balamad. In addition, Act organised training workshops for students on conducting interviews and writing transcriptions. After the workshops the students interviewed the families of the missing. The interviews were transcribed and presented in the documentary film “Neither dead, nor alive”.
