During the fifth parliamentary elections held from 24 March to 7 April 1968 (1)Thomas Scheffler, “Lebanon” in Dieter Nohlen, Florian Grotz, and Christof Hartmann (ed.), Elections in Asia and the Pacific: A Data Handbook: Volume I: Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia, Oxford, Oxford University Press, 2001, p. 183., two women ran for the elections. The first was Munira al-Solh who ran again for the same seat in Beirut (third district), but withdrew her candidacy before the elections.
