Beirut and Baalbeck had the highest intensity of State Response conflictivity in the first half of 2016. This can be attributed to many Arrest, Raid, and Dismantlement of explosives/demining incidents that occurred in these areas, countering defiance and/or opposition to central State Power and Governance such as Raids on the house of a suspected terrorist entity in Baalbeck.
During the first half of 2016, Akkar witnessed an intermediate level of State Response intensity with 78% State Response incidents categorised as Arrests made by Lebanese Security Forces such as the ISF, LAF, General Security, etc. Also, 41% of incidents in the State Response dimension classified as Power and Governance in Akkar were related to either Illicit Trade or Arms Smuggling.
