The siege of Talkalakh
On 14 May 2011, during the 2011–2012 Syrian uprising, the Syrian military began an operation in the Syrian town of Talkalakh. Many residents have fled the fights in the area towards Lebanon, and this incident is considered one of the first events that triggered the influx the refugees to the outside of Syria.
