Security 2nd Half 2016

In the second half of 2016, the Security dimension was most intense in the Baalbeck region and Shootings alone accounted for 35% of incidents in Baalbeck. These shootings were mostly due to personal disputes between Lebanese civilians, though a few incidents were related to gunmen shooting at security forces such as the LAF or the ISF.
Out of the 91 incidents mapped in Akkar during the 2nd half of 2017, more than 50% were related to incidents in the Security dimension with 78% of these classified as Individual Acts of Violence. This underlines the fact that the majority of the conflicts occurring in this district are the result of individual crimes, rather than other dimensions of conflictivity such as Armed Conflict or State Response.
In the 2nd half of 2016, Saida witnessed 110 incidents falling under the Security dimension with 91% of them related to Individual Acts of Violence which included Robberies, Brawls and Disputes, Shootings, Murders, etc. Moreover, 40% of the Brawl/Disputes mapped in this Caza evolved into more violent conflicts such as Shooting or Assault.
