The National Social Protection Strategy (NSPS), A Step Towards A New Social Contract in Lebanon. What are its pillars and who benefits from it?

Launched on February 13th, 2024, the National Social Protection Strategy (NSPS) is an essential policy initiative in a country that has been struggling with economic, social and political crises for the past 5 years.
The NSPS acts as a comprehensive roadmap towards a new social contract redefining the roles and responsibilities between Lebanese citizens and the state, whereby the former pay taxes, and in return, the latter guarantees their access to basic services and protection.
The strategy is organised around 5 pillars, this infographic goes over what these pillars are and who can benefit from them.

* The National Social Protection Strategy is a long term vision for the upcoming 10 years, and these 5 pillars are yet to be operationalized and implemented into specific programmes and schemes. Citizen oversight is essential to keep governments and ministries accountable for the implementation of the strategy and to ensure access to rights for all, in view of further social justice.
