Memories of the War

The overall objective of the project “Memories of the War” is to provide a safe place to discuss the civil war and other violent events. forumZFD has been providing training courses to teachers and practitioners from NGOs and INGOs, which include innovative learning and teaching methods promoting critical thinking and interpretations of past and present violence. The project aims at increasing mutual acceptance of one’s and others’ narratives. As part of this project, forumZFD worked in partnership with the Lebanese Center for Civic Education (LCCE) and Step Away. The collaboration produced a documentary portraying the personal experiences of 6 people who have lived through the civil war and a teaching manual focusing on the war in Lebanon. So far, 35 public school teachers, 45 private school teachers, more than 60 persons working with NGOs and INGOs, and other interested university professors and activists have attended forumZFD’s trainings.
