26 January 2014: The Tunisian constituent assembly adopts a new constitution

The 2014 Constitution placed human dignity and social justice as constitutional values and recognised health as a right for every citizen (article 38). It also affirmed the State’s guarantee of the right to social protection and care for the most deprived. The universalisation of social protection thus became a constitutional requirement.
