2003: Reform of the General Compensation Fund (CGC)

Friday, July 4, 2003

Following the Ministerial Council of 4 July 2003, the Tunisian government adopted guidelines for a structural reform of the General Compensation Fund (CGC). The reform concerns cashier budgeting and product targeting, limiting CGC’s subsidies to three basic products: cereals, blending oil, and milk. It also includes the intensification of controls on the use of subsidized products to punish misuse, and foresees a gradual increase of subsidised products.
