1959: Creation of the National Pension Fund (Caisse Nationale de Retraite – CNR) [Law No. 59-18 of 5 February 1959]

Following Tunisia’s independence from the French rule (1956), Bourguiba’s regime created a Retirement Fund for civil servants. This fund follows Law No. 59-18, which establishes a pension regime for civil servants and the military forces, covering disability and survivors’ benefits.
