Security forces injure protester as hospital employees announce strike
A protesting hospital employee was injured by security forces Wednesday as dozens of public hospital employees announced they would close hospitals to all patients the following day, the state-run National News Agency reported.
Employees of public hospitals across Lebanon have gone on routine strikes in recent months, demanding a pay hike in accordance with last year’s salary scale law.
A scuffle broke out between protesters and some members of the presidential guard after some protesters attempted to cut off the road leading to Baabda Palace, but riot police arrived to the scene and prevented them from doing so, local media reported.
