Palestinian refugees continue protests asking for asylum

Hundreds of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon gathered in Martyr’s Square this morning, the latest in a series of demonstrations asking for asylum. Along with Palestinian flags, protestors waved the colours of the European Union, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. The protest was organized by the Palestinian Youth Organization for Humanitarian Relief in Lebanon and the Youth Movement for Palestinians in Syria. Just last week, hundreds of Palestinian refugees protested outside the Canadian Embassy in Jal al-Dib, following a similar protest held in August, during which the organizations submitted lists of names of Palestinians residing in Lebanon who were requesting asylum in Canada.
