Fnaidek residents block the Abdeh-Halba road demanding that security authorities arrest and hold accountable assaulters who beat agriculture workers
وطنية - عكار - قطع مواطنون من بلدة فنيدق طريق العبدة قرب مخفر الدرك، استنكارا لتعرض ابنائهم للضرب والاذية الجسدية في العاقورة ، حيث كانوا يعملون في قطاف الكرز، وللمطالبة بتوقيف الفاعلين ومحاكمتهم. وكانت بلدية فنيدق استنكرت في بيان، ما "تعرض له بعض الشباب اللبناني العكاري من إعتداءٍ وضرب وذل وسوء معاملة، بعد إتهامهم بالسرقة ،بهدف التملص من دفع مستحقاتهم، خلال بحثهم عن لقمة العيش في قطاف الكرز". ووصفت "الفيديوهات والصور المنتشرة عبر وسائل التواصل الإجتماعي بالشنيعة جدا"، واضعة إياها "برسم المعنيين من رجال الدولة والأمنيين وصولا لحقيقة ماجرى"، مطالبة "بإنزال اشد انواع العقاب لمن سولت له نفسه معاملة الناس بهذه الطريقة البشعة".
A number of workers, most of which are Syrians in addition to two Lebanese, were violently beaten while half-dressed on Wednesday by their employer in Qartaba in the Jbeil district. Members of the families of the two Lebanese men, blocked the Abdeh-Halba highway with rocks, cars and motorcycles demanding that the security authorities arrest and hold the assaulters accountable.
The ISF started an investigation after watching the videos which circulated on social media of workers being beaten and that it was “given the authority to arrest the employer and bring him in to listen to his testimony.” According to the protesters in Akkar, the employer was later released, prompting them to take to the streets and “demand that he is arrested again and punished for beating the workers.
