Families of Beirut port blast victims stage a sit-in for the second day in a row outside the Justice Palace in Beirut to protest the Higher Judicial Council's decision to appoint an alternate judge in the Beirut blast probe

Families of the victims of the Aug. 4, 2020 Beirut port explosion gathered Thursday morning in front of the Justice Palace in Adlieh, for the second day in a row, decrying a Tuesday decision by the Higher Judicial Council to appoint an alternate investigative judge in the blast probe. The protest began around 7 a.m., but only a few people showed up, according to our journalist on the ground.

وطنية-أفادت مندوبة "الوكالة الوطنية للاعلام" بان  أهالي ضحايا انفجار المرفأ  ينفذون وقفة أمام وزارة العدل منذ الصباح الباكر، وذلك احتجاجاً على موافقة مجلس القضاء الأعلى على اقتراح وزير العدل في حكومة تصريف الأعمال القاضي هنري الخوري، والقاضي بتعيين محقق عدلي رديف للمحقق العدلي الأصيل في جريمة انفجار مرفأ بيروت القاضي طارق البيطار، رافعين لافتات تندد "بتدخل السياسة في عمل القضاء "وتدعو الى "عدم تخريب التحقيق".
