Families of the victims of the August 2020 Beirut port explosion protested Wednesday evening in front of Justice Minister Henry Khoury's apartment in Hazmieh, decrying a decision by the Higher Judicial council the previous day to appoint an alternate investigative judge in the blast probe. The families were seen gathering on the fourth floor of the building where Khoury reportedly lives. "You are assassinating the law, they are assassinating our case," one protester said.In a telephone interview with television station Al-Jadeed, Khoury said that the Higher Judicial Council "did not yet appoint any judge and ... did not remove" current investigation judge Tarek Bitar from his post. "There is no political interference in the port blast file and I am not the decision maker," Khoury also said.

StateSecurity harassed and insulted protestors and journalists, surrounding them at the house’s entrance, and bringing in masked members who quickly revealed their faces after protestors called them out.

وطنية - نفذ عدد من اهالي ضحايا انفجار 4 آب، ترافقهم مجموعة من الناشطين، وقفة احتجاجية مساء اليوم امام منزل وزير العدل هنري خوري في الحازمية، استكمالا للوقفة التي نفذوها بعد ظهر اليوم امام قصر العدل رفضا للاقتراح الذي قدمه خوري الى مجلس القضاء الاعلى بانتداب قاض رديف للقاضي طارق البيطار لاستكمال التحقيقات وموافقة المجلس هذا القرار. ورفض المتحدثون باسم الاهالي قرار وزير العدل، واعتبروا انه "يخيط قانونا جديدا على حسابه وعلى حساب السياسيين". ودعوا مجلس القضاء الاعلى "لتنفيذ التعيينات القضائية بدل الموافقة على قرار غير قانوني حتى يستكمل القاضي بيطار تحقيقاته للوصول الى الحقيقة".كما واتهموا وزير المال "بعدم توقيع مرسوم في صلب عمله، وطالبوا بملاحقته نظرا لاخلاله بواجباته الوظيفية، وضرورة محاكمته امام المجلس الاعلى لمحاكمة الرؤساء والوزراء". ورفضوا اتهامات وزير العدل لهم بأنهم مسيسون.

نفّذ أهالي ضحايا ​مرفأ بيروت​ في هذه الأثناء وقفة احتجاجية أمام منزل وزير العدل في حكومة تصريف الأعمال ​هنري الخوري​، اعتراضاً على تعيين محقق عدلي رديف في ملف المرفأ. ودخل المحتجون إلى المبنى الذي يسكن فيه الوزير، حيث يقومون بقرع بابه على الطابق الخامس مطالبين بخروجه. كما وصل عناصر من قوى الأمن لضبط الوضع.
