Civil Defense volunteers call for paid jobs
Civil Defense volunteers protested in Beirut’s Riad al-Solh Square Thursday, demanding that Cabinet approve a decree that would secure them paid, full-time jobs, the state-run National News Agency reported. The volunteers threatened to escalate their protests if the decree is not approved.
Lebanon has some 2,553 Civil Defense volunteers. Most are ambulance first responders, rescue workers and firefighters.
